  • hello there

    allreet,new member..
from manchester, currently driving a fiesta ST turbo built by ian howell-area six and mapped by harvey gibbs.great car, took me along time to finish it and have had alot of fun in it embarressing "fast" cars but im on the verge of buying an escort cosworth as ive wanted one since i first saw them in the early 90`s and ive got all the points all over my licence thing out of my system now lol.
i want a white one, standard looking, not too bothered about the engine being standard,(unless its been done by somebody in the scene)as at least any tuning that gets done to it you can be sure its been done properly i guess.
    quick question-
have any of you guys had an LPG conversion?
if so how did it take as ive never seen it done on these cars.
i want to use mine as much as possible other than snow and grit months and thought it may be an option, any reasons why not?
is it true LPG is like 112 ron (if it was petrol) ?
my car now does about 10-15 MPG which is stupid for a fiesta lets be honest.
id expect it (and put up with it tbh) from a cossie.
sick of buying "daily" cars now,i want a car i can use all the time and isnt parked up all the time.
anyway pic of my car which is cool but i seriously can not wait to get a cossie, ill be like a kid at xmas haha !!

Never seen one with LPG, but I am sure it could be done.

        thanks mate
yeah ,just wondered why you never see it.
i must admit,i wouldnt cut into the rear quarter no way,it would have to be mounted elsewere for sure..
in the rear side window perhaps, but maybe-if there is any out there, the filler is out of sight

There was a guy over on the main RSOC site looking into fitting lpg to a saph cos, not sure how far he got. His user was "tabetha", worth a pm if you are serious. My standard small turbo is doing mid 20's around town and over 30mpg on a run, not sure how much more than that lpg would get you.

tbh,if it gets no more than 20-30,its still 70p a ltr so is a little better.
only reason im bothering is so i can use it every day as i say,and 20 ish is double what im getting now anyway on v-power/bp ultimate so its all good.
ive heard lpg gives you slightly less mpg but slightly better power with cheaper per ltr money but i dont know for sure.

Yes you could get LPG conversions done to the ESCOS. Central Performance in Coventry used to do it. There not there now.
LPG has much better knock properties than Super unleaded, but it contains less specific energy per Kg. Hence to get the power out you need a really good tune.
I have seen a few of these conversions whilst collecting parts from CP.

                      haha yeah i get around.
my parents live in dogdale and im staying there untill me and my girlfriend get another home, bit of a nightmare but its cheap eh lol.

*im trying to time it right for finding a new place (away from rochdale) and getting a cossie of my own as the chavs look at the fiesta and see a simple fiesta with a body kit (not a 40k pound fiesta) so dont *touch wood* bother with it, but they all know exactly what an escort cosworth is (and can do).

                      sunnyside,thanks for the info mate
