  • Cam Timing

    Hi,

In need of a bit of advice a friend has seen an Escort Cossie and rang the guy up to get some info on it, seems to be straight and ok however the guy has told my mate that the cams need timing up?????

Anyone shed some light on this as far as my mates knows the spec of the car is

    Blue Injectors,
    Air 2 Air injectors,
    200 block etc,
    Approx 380bhp

as far as im aware the standard cam pullys are fixed and cannot be timed and blue injectors are standard fit and 380 might be over optamistic as im running blacks and a fair amount of boost and would say im not near 380 at the mo and im running lots of other stuff as well

OH FUCK WHAT WAS THAT NOISE

blues and 380 is fine, and a cracking conversion we do regularly with a t34.48

as above cam timing with standard cams is dead easy dont let it put your mate off buying the car as us lot on here will talk you through it, basically for cams point the two pointers dead at each other and away you go

Yes sorry they were light blue injectors, couldnt of been standard as running air injectors.

Can you give me a rough guide of how to check if they are out???

Does the car have to be tdc?????

make sure at the crack its on its tdc mark, its the little lug on the ally front cover and the lug on the pulley which is next to the v mark

then look at the cams, both should be pointing inwards directly towards each other

if it just needs timing then surely he would have had it done before selling? or is there some other problem that he's trying to hide? id be very wary steve
