  • Worries, fuel prices, Are escos toys?

    Hello All

Im Just sitting here and pondering having driven around the country in my job a lot lately looking at buildings and noticing many many petrol stations along the way how i dont see that fuel be it 95 ron or super unleaded will be below £1 litre again anytime soon if at all ever again which got me thinking that next year could see me using ithe escort even less

Now in the winter, it is nice to have a few extra quid in my wallet by not running it and the road tax saved etc but im seriously wondering if im going to be able to afford to go to that many shows if the fuel price keeps creeping up. Im currently going through a review of all my outgoings to try and reduce them as much as possible but if it keeps rising by next April im going to have to be very cautious about what shows and events to go to.

Is anybody else thinking like this?

It Wouldnt be so bad if road tax for example was payable monthly rather than 6 or 12 monthly as it currently is

I get a lot of stick about my car being a garage toy and i laugh it off but maybe its true????

If an extra £10-15 per tank full of fuel is really going to make such a significant difference to your finances, then you really should be thinking long and hard about owning such an extravagant toy, as it is a LOT of money to have tied up if things are hard .

It will never go below £1 a litre, everybody pays it just now, so they won't want to lose millions a year by reducing it, even if the price of oil go's to rock bottom fuel won't!

Yep I did think like that and yes I think the Escos is a complete and utter toy!!

Not for one minute could I not afford to run my Escos, I comfortably ran it for a year alongside the M3 and regularly bought parts for both cars and modded the Escos, I even chucked 3k cash at a Bara box for fuck sake!

What made me sell mine was the fact that I would just keep on spending more and more money on it and spoil it as a road car, if I got in too deep as MANY do I would never forgive myself as the money would NEVER be able to be recouperated (sp) and I knew I wasn't going to have it for life!

I must admit that now it's gone I'm MUCH happier not having two cars, doubling up on Road Tax, Petrol, Insurance, MOT's, servicing and repairing AND then modifying takes the piss I think, I'm past that and fucking glad to be! I must admit that it's awesome having the cash sitting there, I don't even know about fucking about with crappy bits of metal anymore, I will probably invest into property again as the last time I did that I did very well, just wish I had done it sooner....

Aaron was just being straight to the point as usual and just speaking his mind, try not to take it heart

Mart its a difficult question, but as said its a lot of money to have tied up but if you can live with that, what is the harm in taking it off the road for a year or so, as the country should hopefully have recovered then and things will look brighter and then I'm sure you won't be thinking like this.

But answer one question, were those 2 shows worth doing in it and did you enjoy yourself and ever once think I should sell it then?

could you not put a bit away each month for your 6 month's tax etc... as that may soften the blow a little
