    ok front struts

1 jack front of car and support and remove wheels
2 remove the abs sensor bracket from the strut
3 undo the caliper due to flexi stretching
4 undo 19mm pinch bolt through the hub (bottom of shocker)
5 leave top 19mm nut until last
6 use long bar to put downward pressure on lower track control arm ledge under the cradle
7 use hammer and tap hub downwards
8spray some wd40 around base of shocker to ease removal
9 as it gets near the end pull the hub towards you it will then just pop out be care full not to pull to hard as the inner drive shaft joint may come out/apart

then undo the top 19mm nut and it will come off

if when undoing the top nut the whole shaft turns use a allen key to hold it you will see an hole for one right in the top ise a spanner to undo the nut

any probs call me i will talk you through it

    mark hope this helps
hi mark i have konis on my motor and when i try and undo the 19mm top nut it turns so i tried to hold the 8mm nut while trying to undo 19mm and the whole metal cup has come seperate from the rubber round washer thing is this normal cos the opposite side came undone ok and just the thread is going through hole ok

There's an allen key fitting at the top, try holding it with that and then undo the 19mm nut...

If you cannot get the top 19mm nut off (above the turret) put an allen key into the top of the shock shaft and undo.
Franco a Koni has not got the allen bit, its a flat for adjusting the shocker.

Ps what do you know, fixed your dash lights yet

use an impact gun to shock it ,this method has never failed me,or if you haven't got one or access to one, get a big pair of stillsons on the metal cup (thats a last resort tho!)

I think you can fit a 8mm socket over the top of the shock.

If I remember rightly I used a 19mm Ring Spanner and a 8mm socket to stop it spinning.

adam ant try using an 8mm spanner on the "flats" on the piston rod. As long as the piston rod does not rotate then the 19mm bolt will come undone if you have enough force on it.

It doesnt matter if the strut top plate rotates. Theres nothing to stop it rotating anyway as all it does is stop the damper falling out of position when theres no load on the dampers.

slight clicking on doing up wheelnuts is ok.

Im not sure what you mean with other clicking?? is it slight movement of strut as you do bolt up?? or is it CV joint noise??? You havent pulled the shaft out have you?? dont know how easy that is to do!

front of car is on axle stands when fitted drivers side strut checked movement of drivers side hub turns loosely clockwise and anti clockwise then tightens up and with clicking noise ,maybe bearings or not pushed in all the way i think but not to sure or is it because both wheels are of the floor?????????

                                ahhh ok!!thats more clear.

Sounds like your taking the slack up in the drive shaft as you attempt to rotate hubs.

You shouldnt be able to rotate them easily much by hand.

                                MAybe CV wear???

You need someone with a bit more experience to know whats acceptable amount of play.
