  • Tech Question - Centre vc settings,

Ive searched loads on here and an other site but not really finding an answere
So im sorry if its a stupid question but new to this so anyway...

The viscous coupling torque settings, i notice on most uprated boxes they have been set to 60nm, and i have seen some at 80nm,

What does this do exactly? Is 80nm to much? (Believe mine is 80)

    Thanks
    Scott

Depending on what you whant... The more nm, the more power to front wheels.

Ok thanks, the car will be around 450bhp on standard diffs with a front diff strengthening plate,

Its just a road car which wont be launched etc so hopefully the vc being at 80nm won't cause to much hassle

No its No problem, only its gets closer to 50/50 splitt, so will be more understeer, and Need more to get back end out. On tarmac i like IT better with more power too back wheels, on snow and gravel 50/50 is "better" all personal, and what you like/whant

The VC setting has nothing to do with the power split. The power split is set by the gears in the centre diff and is 64/36 rear/front.
That can never change unless you change the gear set in the epicyclic, there were 50/50s but only for motorsport not road use.

The VC varies the amount of allowable slip between the front and rear axles.
The tighter the vc I.e more pressure the less slip will occur before drive the 36% of the engine torque is delivered post gearbox to the front axle.

            Thanks very much!
Be interesting to see how it drives @ 80nm compared to standard

Unless you are gunning it with enough power to promote spin then no different.

If you have then it will be much more effective.
