Can I resurrect this thread rather that start another?

I've got a oil pressure gauge in the banana pod doing nothing, no movement at all.

I've found the two leads that go onto this VDO pressure switch/sensor and I've taken them off the sensor for some testing.

If I earth out one side the red oil pressure light on the dash comes on but if I earth out the other the pod doesn't do anything but should it, would earthing that move the needle normally?

Then, when I come to put them back on, is there anyway of knowing which should go to what terminal as I understand from this link that one is a switch and one is the pressure so a variable resistance.

          Thanks as usual

The needle should go to max if the gauge wire is earthed.

Thanks for diagram John, I did run through their site but didn't see anything so emailed them but this will save me waiting for a reply, brilliant.

And thanks for confirming what I suspected that it should go full scale on being earthed, so I have a break somewhere which I'll try and track down tomorrow

I guess all the gauges in the banana pod share the same +12v supply, well the battery voltage anyway as boost is mechanical - problem is I can't see the wiring diagram for them in my books anywhere to double check this presumption.

I can see though a Brown/Red (gauge) and a Brown/Green (dash light) that are in the diagram heading to the VDO unit so I have something to hunt for.

                All good fun.

John, that's great, fuse 27 fine both sides, took pod out, good 12v on Black/Yellow but grounding Brown/Red did nothing.

Took unit apart and windings look like a 60's hairstyle so I think we have the answer to no oil pressure gauge. How on earth this happened I have no idea!
