  • Removing Turbo back front section of exhaust

Right we have done lots on the car today (write up in a minute) but we ran against a problem removing the downpipe and CAT part of the exhaust.
The triangular bracket that bolts to the turbo is too big to get the exhaust out of the bottom of the car as it catches on the ARB and gearbox
do we need to remove the ARB or the little prop that runs alongside the gearbox (technical I know )
Please help as I want the exhaust off to get polished

    cheers
    Mat

you just need to get it all at the correct angle mat which can be awkward if your working off axle stands, make sure you turn the front prop to give max clearance, you really need the car high up though so you might have to dismantle something

unless you have the car about a meter off the floor it wont come out mat just take the arb down and then it should just come out, dont remove the front small drive shalf as you will lose the fluid from the transfer box if you do

I just unbolted it from the front diff, if you don't remove it from the box you won't loose any fluid

I just dropped it down to the floor and twisted it clockwise looking from the rear and angled it around. Eventually you get the angle and it will drop out.

But I must say it is alot easier with ARB removed. I put mine back up today without the ARB and it was so easy.

By the way had tyres put on the Engells yesterday. Should be on the car within a week or so

If I undo the ARB from the 2 brackets only will it be easy enough to line it up again to bolt it back together or is it a nightmare due to it's strength/thickness??

the roll bar will line back up again easily, just use a small jack to lift the rol bar back up

AS said - just drop the ARB, esp if you're working on axel stands - will save you a lot of time!
