Wow the difference since I went to bed after nights alright boys at the end of the day, this debate has only happened purely to ensure we have a fit and forget component. So it's good people are sharing their experiences.
I dunno where some of you have purchased your diffs and managed to have a total cost that equals a 9'' diff, but after everything needed on mine it was still cheaper than a rebuilt quaife 7.5. And it's still together after a good few years in a car that probably does more miles than all of you combined. It's proven that people with massive power are more likely to break the cover, but it still remains a more reliable conversion IMO because I have yet to hear of anything damaging internally other than the cover, so already well ahead of a Cossie diff. Yes the cover breaks, but it's nothing new and even breaks on Supras themselves. But everything needs development from the start, just like that F1 comment previously.
I continue on at you Justin because you are convinced your plan will work where it's PROVEN it will cause catastrophic failure. It's happened before with a weak cover, how much damage do you think will happen with a more durable cover with no give at all? Recently someone has broken their cover and managed to split the beam as well, so I see massive damage coming your way. I hope I'm proven wrong, but it's already happened.
As for the top cover debate, Mark has explained over and over already. But here's some more info for you. Over 2000 psi of pressure before it moves/flexes. This is how it works when fitted, its in tension and compression. Not taking the hanging weight which is what the diff mount is SOLELY for.
