lights, whats everyone use for their garage? ive got 3 6ft twin flourescents but im fed up of them flickering or taking ages to come on,then go off again ive changed the starters, ballasts?,chokes etc and one of them now trips all the power if it doesnt light up within the first few seconds so ive decided its time for a change,i dont want any fancy recessed spotlights etc but wondered if theres any other options as its quite dark in there and i only have a small window

I've just got old spot lamps up in mine, I don't spend much time in there so only need basic lighting.

Try and find Sunblaster T5 4ft strip lights. They link together and are very bright but only 58w. I put 6 in a 6x5m log cabin ans dropped to only 2 as it was too bright

Yeh, I honestly dont think you can beat fluorescent lighting in garages, just put plenty in, I use 6x6ft singles and 2x6ft doubles, daylight tubes, brilliant for working on a car, be it cleaning, polishing, whatever really.

Check the wiring: junction boxes, breaker panel, grounding. . . Sounds like a lo voltage issue to me. In the US, I would suggest you had lost a phase.
                    cheers,

nick iv got no windows in mine , its 30ft long X 12.5ft wide , 5 x 6fts on the roof with silver defusers , a 6ft on the back wall & 2 x 8fts on the side walls , its mega bright but what I will say without a doubt wall lights are the things to have , you will be amazed at the difference they make , all fluorescents & never any trouble

Funnily enough one of my fluro lights fell off the garage roof the other day so now I am looking at getting LED down lights instead. They will be ok for the car park side but in the workshop I will keep the fluro lights for now.
