on news 24 little while ago, General Motors are in dire financial straits and may go into bankruptsy, very, soon. ?!

sorry state of affairs but if the parent company don't sell cars why should they employ workers

its financial suicide paying out and nowts coming in.

i reckon vauxhall ellesmere port could get fooked off to china or poland/india or somthing to make gm more profit with cheeper labour.

IF GM goes belly up the people worst off are the workers and those who GM pays pensions for.
Basically bankruptcy will mean everyone gets fired and looses all pensions. Then most people will get new jobs in whatever firm buys the remains of GM. With less pay and less benefits than they had before...
The boss-men though will off course get new jobs with bigger paychecks and better benefits..
Guess who gets the shortest straw when/if it happens..

They should break the company up into smaller units and sell them off... As for Vauxhall it's closely tied with the Opel branch of GM and I read somewhere a couple of weeks back that Mercedes was making an offer of purchase but somehow I can't see that happen.
