If you like lag lag lag boost change gear or you can change with the times and go instant Boost boost boost change gear instant boost again, like I said been there and done both

Col, read my post and understand what it takes to make a t4 work. I spent a week on the dyno to get mine right. If yours was that poor that it was massively laggy and had a small power band then your engine spec is poor and your compensating with a new turbo. Imagine what could be had with your new turbo and a awesome spec :0
They are an old turbo and they are laggy. But I love the way it used to be, that's how I remember cossies when I was young so some people don't want to change with the times. I just want raw, gearbox breaking amounts of power to come in over 400rpm lol
I have never been "caught" off boost when playing with other cars. Also I can work a gearbox () and have a huge individual port ALS should I want it to light the wheels from second to third too
Having said that, that's exactly what I wanted from my engine and I achieved more than I could have hoped for.
If I was using the car as a daily or didn't want the expense of putting proper rods, and solid lifters in it allowing my to rev over 8k rpm I would use a smaller twin scroll turbo as they are very good so don't think I'm all for t4s as they are a thing of the past.
What do you want to spend in it this time and what is you main aim for hp and tq
Mark
At the moment i only got budget for a new turbo.. so my old T34 gave it's last huff last week and i before 2014 i need a new turbo on it.. but if i rebuild the old one.. i feel like i payed for something i might replace too soon again..
My aim for hp & tq is about 400-450hp and 500nm tq but with minimal engine work.. so i'm looking for a solution that is also good in the future..
If i will bolt on a T38 on my spec now... i'm afraid it won't run properly.

Horses for courses.
Hey Jim, I did read your post fella and as you say speck is key but just imagine what a correctly specked twin scroll EFR can do as they are awsum, have you guys done much work with them yet as I think you will be surprised how good they really are power and boost are there in an instant and mines not even on full boost as I bought the wrong actuator by mistake so only 26 psi of boost but it drives so much better and pulls hard all the way to limiter give a proper twin scroll manifold and EFR 7670 a go as even I was not sure when Mark first said to me about it but haven't looked back since

To be honest col I've no doubt they're good. I see the difference in twin scroll turbos that are not even properly designed as a twin scroll like the BW EFR range. We havnt had any yet no but im sure there will be customers who want them. It's just alot of money which not every customer has.
Also the lack of testing is a little worrying when throwing that much money at a turbo, I've not seen anybody test back pressure yet which is key for the engine work we do.
I just love the way everyone slates a t4 when it's not that bad when done correct. I'm sure an EFR would transform the drivability of my car as my spec is very good, but whilst I love what I have I've no interest in putting 3k+ into it you know
Jim from what I read on the Borg Warner site they are designed especially for tuned cars unlike a t4 truck turbo as for 3k, my setup was no where near that, sold my old turbo for 1k and put another £1100 in and did the rest myself and got Dave to weld my exhaust so suppose I was luckyif your already buying a T4 there isn't going to be that much difference to spending a few hundred more again with manifold if your going external gate your going to need a manifold so not much more for twin scroll not slating t4 as look at the old touring cars but things progress

Lol, truck turbo. If I put a gt30 on my engine, I couldn't take it to 8000rpm due to the horrendous back pressure! So said truck turbo is perfect for my needs
I would use one of our twin scroll manifolds which are around 1200, turbo 1600? External wastegate, new downpipe and a map. So for anybody else it would be over 3k, luckily I can do the map, fitting and fab myself plus discounts but it's a dear conversion. For something that I don't personally want or need.

Hey Jim, what I was trying to say was in the grand scheme if you were going to use an externally gated t4 you would need a manifold and all the other bits so its not a massive amount moreand not mater what you fitted it would need a map etc. Like you say it personally doesn't suit you but it does me and how I want my car to drive as it spools quicker and lower down the rev range and doesn't loose power at top end surprise you seem do negative about them though as by sounds you haven't even tried thembefore this turns the wrong way this isn't me having a dig at SCS as you guys have some fast cars out there especially the focusbut for a road car surely having a larger power band with less lag and not needing to make sure your in the zone all the time has got to be better
Been in Jimbo's car recently and its really immense! If I wanted the same power, then I'd deffo let him spec it and make an identical engine. Its really progressive and doesn't respond like you'd expect a big old T4 to do

A good well specced T4 car is good but it does in no way compare to a EFR and twin scroll all round but you really have to go in one to see the big diff and drive it.

Col, I have a 4200 rpm power band, what's yours?
I'm deffinately not negative about them, quite the opposite infact, I'm very much pro twin scroll turbos as there are gains, I'm just reserved about the, due to the lack of testing and info out there.
We've also tried alot of twin scroll Turks just not so much the BW range
