  • A few electrical issues... any ideas?

    Hi all

Since my front bumper was fixed and sprayed, the washer jets for the windscreen have not worked. Pressing the button you cannot here anything pumping. Worked spot on before this. Checked the fuses and all ok.

Any chance it has been plugged in incorrectly?

    Any know issues with these?

    Where is the pump located?

Next is my coolant temp sensor plug is broken. Is there any other way to fix this other than a new loom?

Also dipped beem on the passanger side is not working... changed bulb but nothing... any ideas on this?

    Thanks

    Mark

Found a new pump for the washers for £16 so hope that resolves that one...

Check the plug on the washer pump, iirc there's 2 pumps on the washer bottle, 1 for windscreen, 1 for headlamps. It may of been pulled loose when the bumper was re fitted.

As for coolant sensor plug just buy a plug from polevolt.co.uk with the terminals and crimp it on.

yes 2 pumps as described, I think the one nearest the chassis leg is the headlamp one.

As for the dipped beam you need a multi meter, have you checked the connections to see if they're in good condition?

Think you may have the wrong one as the cheapest I found was £40. Think you have the small one which is the windscreen washers.

As ben has said the headlight washer is on the inside beside the chassis leg.

Cheers guys. The wiring for the light looks ok. Notjing obvious. Will get a multimeter and test.

As for the pumps. Neither work. Just interested in getting the windscreen ones going at the moment. I have no sound from the pump.

Does the wiring to the lights and pump all work off the engine loom?

              Thanks

Not sure on the wiring Mark, but you would think so. Before spending I'd do the easy things first and make sure you have power to all the right places and make sure all clips are on properly as it does sounds as if it could be something as simple as that.

Cheers Ben, I learnt the hard way with not checking the connectrs

I am sure it is something simple.

                  ALSO!!

My twin fans do not work since the head gasket was changed... I have looked down between the engine and rad and can see the connectors for the fans... From a distance they look identical, could this have been plugged into the wrong connectors?

I do not want to swop it over and cause more damage.... I am sure that is as simple as that but thought I would check before I do it

The pump for the headlight washers is on the inside near to the engine. I know I've removed it enough times fixing mine! The one on the outside of the washer bottle Is for the screen. The connection is a two pin type male/female on each side of connection they tend to get corroded and sometimes not connect properly when pushed together. You can remove the pump with the bumper in situ, but it is fiddly and drain the bottle 1st, I forgot and got soaked.
The fuse is number 26 and is blue, they ain't cheap on eBay as I think I paid £20 or so for mine.
Easy check is to disconnect the plug to the pump and wire it directly to battery and check the pump.
I hated mine not working and eventually fixed them, but it annoyed me for weeks on end!!

Have you checked the obvious thing that it has water in? The only reason I ask, is that when you take the front bumper off you disconnect the hose to the tank and all the water drains out.

Either that, or they forgot to reconnect the hose to the pump .

Cheers guys. Sounds easy enough. I will check all of them. The headlight washers never worked so a brucey bonus if I get them going...

Mike, put the old plugs baxk in and she is sweet as a nut. Thanks for the advice
