Is it me or do you think people are been too greedy with parts prices?

I expect no longer available new stock to be a bit of a premium but some stuff is rediculas.

It's more the second hand parts, I just feel people ask silly money and the more people pay these premiums the more prices rise. Good for some but I feel it's causing people to throw the towel in when restoring cars / modding them/ keeping them mint or even buying one ( which then has an effect on decreasing prices )

Eg a push fit gear know on eBay as we speak £40, when I bought one last week for £14 from ford!!

Its shocking mate i paid £15 all in for a bonnet cable clamp for a mk2 escort it would have been a quid if that to buy from ford but if you have one these cars its just the price we have to pay now

Its not good but that's why they break them,if there is a part that's needed, some will pay strong money. So the next one that comes for sale is fixed at the inflated price.

supply and demand.....I see some parts on E bay for silly money, remember the rocker covers for £1000

It was those and the push fit gear knob that sparked this thread

No wonder the rs scene is getting less n less

Lee your right and people will fuel it by paying the prices as they may have no other choice

On the flip side making parts expensive does deter the wrong type of people from buying the cars in the first place!

The funny thing is that RS owners want it both ways

they want breakers to give them stupidly high prices for there cars , but want bits for buttons

              the maths dont add up

              Plus your a tight twat

Buy cars cheap sell bits cheap / pay over inflated prices for cars , pay high prices for parts

              Easy realy

What makes me laugh too is they're not actually that good quality, the original stuff is a lot better made. But I guess it's supply and demand. If someone's willing to pay it......
                  Cheers

At the end of the day if them nomads don't sell then ill keep them, that's the price I'd like but it doesn't stop anybody making an offer does it now? Too many people on here put up a for sale thread and because its a very friendly forum where everybody gets on with each other then that price is set in stone. As soon as anybody puts a parts thread up then the vultures are circling and people seem far too keen to pay the asking price, I remember when Dave moss broke his car and the prices he was asking were extortionate but because it was off "yum" then nobody questioned them and it was a mad scramble with everybody dying to pay these ridiculous prices. So in a way we are victims of our own success on this forum, if the price you see isn't what you like then either make an offer you deem to be acceptable or leave well alone. Thanks for the post on my for sale thread Karl cheers

Yep ban someone at least! Someone should get banned cause its all out of control now!

Or what we could do is open a forum parts bin where we all put our bits in and you can take out what you want!

So like I can put my nomads in and get out some fog lights and john can put his wheels in and get out a splitter!

That way we don't have spend a penny on bits and get what we want!

The price is the price, if you do not want to pay it, walk away from the deal. If enough walk away from the deal then the seller will have to lower the price. If the seller has a one off item that hardly anyone else has and you need it for your bufty cars etc etc then you either pay it or you dont.

Some are quick to moan but I am sure if we was all in the same position we would be asking top £ for the part if we could get it. Nothing is give away these days. The price of parts is the least of your worrys, look at the price of fuel/tax and insurance increases recently
