    HI does any one know the rules for moving private plates


    i have a plate on a 1100cc motor bike and would like to move it to my escoss, but a pal told me the rules have changed and you can no longer move plates from bikes to cars .

    does any one know the rules

    i moved my plate to car from bike about 2 years ago with no problem.

    i dont think the rule has changed

      cant see there being a problem - the only thing i've ever been told is the vehicle its coming off needs to be mot'd
      one for the road?? ......

          Hiya.

          You should have a form V949 (Number Plate Authorisation Certificate) with your 'private' registration on it.

          In the past I've just taken this to my local DVLA office with £80, the tax disc, V5, MOT and insurance for the vehicle you want to move it on to and they do it all for you (MOT and Tax) there and then. I let the insurance company know and the V5 arrives a week or so later.

          No issues I'm aware of moving from bike to car. Reg's aren't vehicle specific.
