  • Problems........Update!

2 weeks ago i had my focus rs mapped and setup at sitech racing, i got the car back and it sat on the ramp for a week waiting on my new wheels and tyres coming, so iv been driving it last few days and yesterday i was out on the country roads giving it some stick, when i was flatout in 3rd then lost power and was firing on 2 cylinders!.... Came back to the garage and all 4 plugs white/orange and 2 the tips have burnt right off the and now have lost compression in 1 cylinder and another is down to 30psi.....

Do i have a leg to stand on with sitech racinig as they have ment to have just mapped and set the car up but its obviously running far too lean???

Doesn't sound good Iain, if I was you I would be contacting sitech about this if you haven't already done so.

I think that will be the test of how good they are with customer problems, but by the sounds of things you might have done some valves in . Seeing as its not smoking I dont think you will have holes a piston but its going to be expensive regardless .....will they want to foot the bill .
Its been the age old problem , some tuners (not being specific at all here) just put chips in and up the boost then BANG.

I hope you get them to come forward and do the right thing ans get it sorted for you.

I think that will be difficult to explain by messagges the possible causes that put you in this problem.

The only thing that you can do, take the car bring it to sitech racing and speak face to face. If they're a correct worker they will undertand you and try to search a solution together..

If its just fresh mapped & blew up its down to him full stop if he tries to wangle out it then deal with it in the only way possible

Regardless of the fuel quality, why didn't the ecu pull timing when it knocked or IAT's crept up and drop boost (if turbo'd)
A good ecu and tune should have seen this comming and protected the engine

Defo get a fuel sample before the car goes anywhere and can you get a copy of that map to for backup as this sounds expensive

If its a MKI it doesn't have a knock sensor.

                            I don't know about MKIIs...
