  • Bonet Vent covers

Anyone seen or heard of some nice covers for the bonnet vents. Its been a long time niggle when I had my last ESCOS that rain pisses all over the engine when the car is left out. I dont want to put a cover over the car as even with good covers with the wind they eventually chaff the paint.

I have a set of these for sale, but for the Escort, they just clip in place under the vent:

    £12 plus postage.

It sort of a pvc magnetic place over cover I was thinking about just to stop the rain , I think the under neath covers would still divert the rain some where under the bonnet.
might see if I can get some made . just had a few campers reupholstered by a great guy up here....so will ask him.

        Frank,

You want to buy some flexible magnetic sheet, plenty on ebay in all sorts of colours and make yourself something like this, same principle but for the an MG B

The only downside to making them out of that stuff frank is they will have to be a bit bigger than the vent as the vents are plastic, so you'll need it to stick to the bonnet

If you use magnetic sheet make sure the car is clean & the magnet is clean before you apply it or else you will scratch the car.

I can't believe your going to leave such a nice car outside in the elements can't you get a big set of patio doors fitted in your front room wall and bring it in the house at night time.........I'm sure your other half will understand

                    LOL.

Ive had a philosophy about life since my opp to remove a wee lump back in 2002 and reinforced with my lung problem and that is that you just dont know if you will out live the car or the car will out live you. To that end Ive decided never to worry about hiding things away. TBH Ive never don it anyway but I intend to look at and use my ESCOS every day god gives me to do so.
Sorry to be so cheery but I ain't hiding my car away for months at a time. When its fooked, I'll move on or fix it .

Good outdoor cover would be the ticket? The Specialised covers ones can be put on a wet car too.

Was speaking to the wife about this and she agrees it might be a good idea. More chance of bad weather damaging the car than a cover buffing the paint. i can always put the paint right if I have to.

Frank best thing you can do is park the worst camper outside and just park the escort under your new shelter you built afterall who cares about an old VW
