  • Digital Scalextric

I'm feeling the need for a bit of indoor winter racing and as i've got some Argos vouchers from a rewards scheme i feel i'd better get in there before 'er indoors decides we need all new bath towels or some such rubbish

Has anyone got digital Scalextric as i'm wondering if it's worth the extra cost over the normal sets

To be honest i don't even really know what the main differences are

We've got the normal stuff, plus adapters to fit track from the 80's and 90's. Have got enough track to go round our lounge 4 times, have made some massive tracks but sometimes have problems with power drop off.

Just getting my 3 year old lad into it

From what i can make out you can race more than one car on the same lane and then change lanes to overtake................. but not sure how lol

Years and years ago, there was a racing set called TCR (I still have some) that worked in the same way where you could change lanes. I think it does it by resistance or similar.

Sport digital is 2 lane but allows you to run upto 6 cars because your able to overtake with the lane change. It's like a railway where by pushing an additional button on the gun,it operates the lane buffer as you approach it. Check out jadlamracingmodels.co.uk they have much larger sets for much better value than off the shelf set ups.

I'm in the process of getting rid of the 23 bin liners (yes, 23! ) of girls clothes aged 0 - 2 years from our loft, done all the rest, just those to get rid of. Once that's done, i'll be assembling a track

I had Scalextric when i was young but my memories of it were not great, the cars breaking, flying off the track at every corner if you made them go anymore than a crawl and it never appealed to me again. Until...my boys got a gift from my Aunt this Xmas of a MicroScalextric set and i must say it is excellent, cant praise it highly enough, it's awesome, i've been playing with it for days. Whats more it has 2 Focus rally cars to race round the track Thoroughly recommend it.

Hate video games Just got a free XBox with a phone upgrade.......... that'll stay in the box until its sold

Prefer something a bit more tactile and real want to get the grand kids into it and would rather them get into something you have to put together and tinker with rather than just turn on with a button

                      Wahey !!!

Busy trying to crack my 3.032 lap record in the Porsche GT3.............. just can't quite manage that last .032

Detail on the cars is very cool Digital is cool too but it is a bit chaotic having 4 cars racing on a small 2 lane circuit, 3 cars not too bad though
