  • Sheared Locking Wheel Nut

Anybody got an easy way to get this broken locking wheel nut off.

Bought a locking wheel nut tool to get it off. The only thing I didn't take into account was how close the nut is to the alloy.

Been thinking about getting the angle grinder out and trying to split it.

Ive used an impact socket slightly smaller than the remains of the bolt and beaten it onto the remains of the wheelnut, its easier with an air gun/impact gun though to then shock it off.

Is there much room around the shoulder to fit a socket??

Its a trolley ...its a shopping trolley (you know, with the spastic front wheel!!)

plus gas penertrating spray and smaller size socket or notch it and try flat bladed screw driver....when ever i put locking wheel nuts on i put loads of copper grease on thread...and never use air guns tighten them like tyre places often do

Yes mate. Used the cutting disc to cut down to the stud. Then tried the chisel to shear it but it only cracked it. The nut then started moving. Spun it through 180 degs and did another cut. I then used the chisel again and split it this time.

Only took just over 1.5 hrs. Was a bit bored this afternoon so cracked on with it

12 sided 11/16s socket straight over usually for me. Removed 4 on my escort when I lost my locking wheel but key. Took me about 10 mins to do all 4
