  • Standard or modded ?

I've noticed quite a few more standard looking cars forsale recently, do use think these appeal more now that the escort is more a classic.

I think so. I think the main problem is people can be scared of a modded car in case any old numpty has had a go at it.

When I was looking my plan was to buy standard and then mod it myself (or rather pay the proffesionals to do it!) so I knew it was done properly.

I was quite fortunate that the one I found has been looked after to a very high standard and only needs a few little bits doing to it to get it to the level I'm after...and the previous owner plus the guys at Harvey Gibbs' told me what was required.

I remember saying to my mates how annoyed I'd be driving a standard Escos that cost me £16k-£18k, and getting left in the exhaust of some £3k Impreza! Ha ha... That wont happen now...

modded cars are more apealing. imo. as long as they have a decent name attached to the mods. if it has the mods you are after. plus it's cheaper to buy a modded car than buy a standard one and mod it yourself.

for all my tuning needs i use Turbosystems 07587188434. ask for tony

True it's a small turbo car so not as much performance mods more bigger wheels and brakes ,nomad lights, carbon , it's a clean original car so thinking of putting it back on standard parts to sell.

This is a true 50/50.. Lots of people want a standard unmolested car with factory petrol still in the tank , where others will look for a well modded car that will save thrm a fortune in the long run.

            horses for courses....

if you want a standard car and no mods then buy standard...

if you want to mod a car and make it a bit better then be better buying a good spec modded on.

I wanted a standard car, as late as I could find. I was lucky to get what I wanted bar an exhaust, filter and a couple of samco hoses. It's personal preference, but I bought mine for standard looks and not to mod up to get extra power.

ive had my escos for 71/2 years now and its only mods are poly bushes and a stainless from cat back and a set of comps, it still runs std power( as gutless as it is) im happy with it. i will never chip it or up the power

My car is completely standard and staying like that Even if it is gutless it drives spot on

A standard unmolested car will always sell quicker and for more IMO

Every body likes different things, it comes down to the person that's looking for a car, I would prefer a standard car to drive. But a modded car to look at ,

i disagree sorry,a standard car would be the 1 to buy to mod yourself if looked after

but the idea of having a cossie is how you can make them go with not alot spent

i would have a standard 2wd saph if mint but couldnt live with a standard 4x4 saph/esco,just far too slow, unless it was a daily runner which they never are

                            why Jase?

not try to sell it as is,saves a good bit of messing about.

Trying to find the love again for it Dave if honest and the prices they're selling for at the moment don't come close to what id want for her.... so have a snagging list of silly bits i need to sort which hopefully keeps me happy and my bank balance happy!

Wife reckons I've grown up, realised I've spent far too much money on it and am trying to tinker on the cheap
