  • drove an auto for the 1st time tonight...96k high miler advice?

well ive been looking for a nice family car & i fancy somthing german, so decided to take a 530d m sport auto out on a test drive tonight.... was a bit aprehensive at 1st as it was an auto but wow!!! how easy is it to drive, couldnt believe it, its like a dodgem car, the missis loved it & she took to it like a duck to water... the only problem is now its got 96k full bmwsh on a 55plate reg dec 30 2005, last owner had the car since a year old,so would you have it inspected at sytner bmw main dealer just to make sure its good or would you put that money to a gold warrenty, also would bmw pick up anything thats a bit dodgy or would it be better having an aa/rac inspection... any advice would be gratfull as buying cars is a nightmare for me ...thanks...

BMW diesel with 90k on clock is nothing to worry about, and IMO the AA inspections are as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

IMO, hpi it, check colour on front back etc. For paint. Panel gaps, condition.

Best way to some times tell if a cars been in an accident is look at front and rear number plates, on a car that age I'd expect it to have matching dealer plates. If ones odd, it's possible it's had a bump.

Are you buying from a dealer or private ?

I dont trust any s/hand car dealers

With the no plate thing, plates break easy so odd plates is quite common

Worst giveaway is when it has "freds coachworks " plate on it

How much would a check at Sytners be ? gotta be £££££ but probably worth it
