  • Anyone any experience of bt on a st engine

    Hi

Looking at this car in next couple of days. anyone any experience of small turbo engines converted to take big turbo

ad says "the car is a small turbo t28 model which has been converted using the original engine to a big turbo t34 model, when the conversion was carried out a group A head gasket was fitted along with a brand new turbo and numerous other parts all from a1 rally in sandy bedfordshire."
    any advice please

im no expert on BT/ST conversions but id pay particular attention to the wiring. ask lots of questions about how it was done, ie was the original wiring hacked out or tidied up out the way. Was some shonky old L8 loom used or had someone fitted a newly made aftermarket loom etc?? if the wiring has been bodged then you may need to replace it at some time when the inevitable faults start occuring.

also check things like all the BT mechanical parts correctly secured etc.

    Medically Discharged!! Officially insane!!!

We've just converted Mark Kings car from ST to BT management. Used a new Promethous loom though so that made things very easy.

If the conversion is done correctly i see no problems, if its bothced you could be in a word of hurt trying to suss out problems when they happen

Would think if the full conversion was done by Steve Scott it would be done properly.

I have mine converted from small turbo to big aswell to do it right wires from front to back off the car have to be changed basicly (so no bodge job) unless you go diffrent management and a proper count of a job DEFO a proffesional sparky job to do it is HIGHLY recomended.Promethous helped me through mine with a couple wee bits he is the man for the job but i think your out of luck as he has stopped doing sparkying?

Ive read a few whove done that sixaxles. Not many wires needed to hook up an L8 loom.

its only 6 wires to hook up a l8 loom

the easiest is to just put the st loom out the way and hook up the l8 loom
