Latest Update: 16/1/11 I have now found my old ESCOS Q48RMA...help
If your not happy with it and don't wanna buy it back can I have his contact details
Problem is you may get down about the state it has gotten into and regret buying it hoping it will be the car it once was. I had an old Saph Cossie that was stolen and bought another thinking it would be the same, but i was never happy
The plan was to finish a 1965 VW restoration for a customer, then start my 1962 VW Split Screen 3.6 Porsche 964 powered Camper.BUT if ,as I think you have a point, my old Escos is not how I remember her then its into the workshop, full strip down and re-spray and we start all over again. Thinking about it, thats probably the best thing to do then I know the cat is 100 % again. Then start my camper. Condition does not worry me at all. It looks like you guys will help source any parts I need on this Forum so ......lets see.....
Frank
you should have no problem getting bits on here for it mate, my is not 100% and never will if it was i'd be too scared to drive it and whats the point in having one if you cant drive it, just make sure the body is in good shape the rest you wil be sorting? i once sold an built up ecos for £5k wish i never done it but at the time i thought she's too rough ill get a better onme but they all need this and that at some stage, hugh
re, live your glory years my friend , put a cheeky offer in & get it back home where it belongs, sounds like a lot of work but if you,ve got the money why not......id love to have all my old cars back.......good & bad....
Do you want a road car tho frank? wont the rally car have a full cage?
Not this way, I would keep the 911. As to the cage, I'm not bothered about that either. It wont be an every day car, just a retired rally car garage queen
BUTI have just spoken to him and I dont think he is going to sell. I have made an offer, which , to me might be to much , but again I just dont care. I want my old car back. I didn't think there was a chance of finding it ever again. I think he might have the idea of slitting the car to sell the parts. Who knows............
He is going to call me back Saturday.
So I will just have to wait and see
Frank.
There are 2 explanations......One I wont go into
The other is that a 45 year old x services man is shaking at the thought of buying his old car back.
How lame is that.
Frank
i'd be careful the guy dont rip you off as he knows you want it bad....
I know where your coming from. TBH i have offered him £xxxx and thats it. At the very worst I could always build another one. I have a great 530 bhp 911 and I didn't actually expect to track the old girl down. So if he says no, nothing lost , I'm still looking for an ESCOS but maybe not right now.
Thanks anyway.
Frank
I recon I must be getting near to my posting limit of 20 for the next 24 hrs so I might not be able to reply anymore today

i know the car from when it was a bare shell twatted hard in the side and i helped on it a few times,if my memory serves me correct it was all pulled out on a jig and straightened up. My mate is Paul Frank.... you remember Paul with the ssssstutter don't yer. He has worked on my cosworths and my mk1 escort and loads of other gems of mine. He's a rum lad but has always looked after me .
I have known him since 1989 when he worked for phil when he was on the 1st unit on the left on the westminster industrial estate opposite eric lucas's panelfix.
