As above, if i didnt have to use my X5 for work and i couldnt prove i use it for work the road tax on it would be about 1300 euro a year, but because i use it as a van ie (no rear seats) i pay 288 euro a year... As you can see thats a huge difference

You think you've got it bad do you lads?

Come and live in Portugal and you'll see.

Our vat sits at 23%, diesel costs €1.33 a litre and super unleaded €1.64 a litre.

Oh and our wages are like a half, sometimes a third of what you have.

Wrong country to live in, believe me...

OMG I am stunned by the taxes you pay in Europe

We pay $1.12CDN (0.85euro) a litre for gas or diesel. Road tax is $80/yr (61.00Euro) for any passenger vehicle. Our HST (same as VAT) is 13% and is only 5% in the oil rich province and Canada is considered very high by North American standards.

gaz if your smoking a dti astra try finding a bio diesel retailer, its always less and in some cases around half price.

i'm lucky i got a astra diesel van in px and its got a load of free diesel in

tbh i know loads of people on the 4th and 5th found out loads of stuff went up more than they thought, they think its like stuff has gone up xtra and people won't realise.
Your gonna have to charge more or try getting punters to have a little bit more work done while your fixing somthing else on there motor.

              to me to you

for easy reckoning its 2 quid on a tenner,20 quid on a one'er and 200 quid on a grand.

its a fookin liberty and that twat george osborne banged on about alternatives like shoving up nat insurance contributions etc,the dozy twat needs to cut loose the free loaders and make people pay for stuff instead of breeding and benefitting at the honest grafters expense.

                fuck em

here in OZ the VAT (GST) is 10% we have only had it for the last 10 or so years before that there was no VAT. fuel ranges between $1.20 (75p) to $1.50 (90p) a litre depending on the day and where in the state you get it, the farther away from the major cities the more expensive it is. LPG gas is about half the price of unleaded. (35 to 45p) a litre.

                        We've got 3 VAT-figures: 6% (food, ...), 12% (paid tv, ...) and 21% (cars, ...)

Yearly road tax depends on engine size:
                        - 2ltr EsCos = £316
                        - 2,5ltr FRS2 = £461

Registration tax depends on kW and age:
                        - EsCos - 18 years old is in class ">155kW 15y and older": £52
                        - FRS2 is in class ">155kW new-1y": £4197

                        Current fuel prices:
                        - diesel: £1,11
                        - 98: £1,31
