  • Esc Cos Rear End Goes "Lite"

When breaking from high speeds you can feel the back end go lite, any suggestions what this could be?

The Mrs drove my Escort tonight and apparently the back end was very twitchy when she had to brake at high speed.

Ive fitted rear suspension springs to it a few months ago which included undoing the anti roll bar, does it need to be tightened while on the floor? Could it be a bush problem or the rear diff mount bush??

    Any help please gents

Thanks Georgie, thats what Im thinking. Ive just been checking up on read diff mounts and Im assuming the two following items are exactly the same (Picture and writing is the same )

      Mike's
      http://www.randbmotorsport.co.uk/sho...?ProductID=298

      MSD's
      http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...#ht_3585wt_913

I may have to order one of these to see if it helps

                the MSD ad states...

1x Uprated Poly Rear Differential Mount To Suit All Ford Sierras and also the Escort Cosworth
(These are genuine uprated units from USA, not cheap welded up rubbish)
I see a welded one in the pic

i personly think the diff mount mod is over rated big time, and i put my rear beam under shit loads of stress being rwd when i use it for drifting.. i honestly couldnt tell the differance before and after fitting.... as where i fitted amhed rear springs last week and love them a very good mod!!

fletch i would be looking for a split rear beam bush if i was you... the arb should just adjust it self when the cars lowered back onto it wheels

are you sure have half a rear spoiler doesnt fuck up the aerodynamics??

the main thing i would say is the weight transfer when braking hard, allows the ream beam to droop as the body is raised, on a std beam when the beam droops, the wheels gain alot of possitive camber and toe in ! there fore reducing the amount of grip from the tyres,

this may not be correct but it is what happens and could be part of the problem

mike is very clued up with this be interesting to see what he says, or if he dosnt see pm him !

Having no rear spoiler has been fine in the past, but since I played with the rear end to get the MOT done (Both rear springs had snapped ) its not felt the same. If going round a corner at 30mph and you brake the rear end wants to step out, which can be dangerous.
