  • oil pump and mains stud kit

    Right my engine is nearly ready for me to get it back from the machiners and rebuild.

    Im just going to order a oil pump, i know theres a big polava over these so can someone point me in the direction of a proper one i can buy, mike?

    And the next one is, would anyone recomend ARP mains stud and nut kit? im going to be 500ish, im also going to be getting big end arp studs so i thought wat the hell whilst im at it.

            Replied - and I'd use some brand new head bolts for the amount they cost, as although it is fine to re-use them, I would only do so once, and you don't know if the previous owner had the head off before you. Regarding them being suitable for 500bhp, no chance in hell , but at least they won't fuck the block like the ARPs will (not a fault of the ARPs, but the poor design of the block around the bolts, one in from the back, which just don't have enough material around them to withstand the stresses that a non-stretch type bolt would create - and it is for this reason that you long stud the blocks, where the extra depth compensates for this lack of strength ).

            The standard bolts will just stretch (too much) every 3-6000miles with 500bhp, so you will just be constantly changing the gasket (caused by the head lifting) or replacing the bolts regularly as a matter of course to prevent this.

              My block is long studed, i was on about the main caps for the crank

              And replied about the pump
