has anyone bought a good quality gear lever gaitor recently? ive had a look at some but they are quite thick and i think it would be hard to get them to fold in at the top where the cable tie goes, any recommendations?

I bought one of the cheaper ones off eBay nick (about £15-Ish I think), black leather with black stitching (iirc they had different colour stitching offered as an option)
it fit well and doesn't look out of place.

Iirc they were long in the length (oo'er missus) and needed trimming.

I bought one of these, Nick (a gaiter, not a gaitor though, I think you are mixing them up with snappy reptiles!) ;-) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Schaltman...item41c7d93c6b. Fits very well indeed. (I have no idea why that page is in German - they are a UK supplier, but I couldn't find the black-with-black-stitching one on their English pages.

Yup - it's really nice, being pukka leather instead of vinyl too, but a right PITA to get staples through!

Thick-ish - nice quality leather, and worth the effort.

The leather one I pointed you at is very neat and easy to fold at the top, Nick. I think it looks better than the original vinyl one....
