  • Morettes and BMW E30 headlights

Looking for some help here. I picked up some morettes off ebay a while ago, but I think the seller had some pretty warped ideas of good condition .

I'm in the process of trying to sort them out, but the 2 main headlamp units are in a pretty sorry state - the reflector has rusted on both. I've read that you can use BMW E30 headlights as a replacement if going HID - but can someone clarify this for me? I assume it's the outer of the pair on the BMW lamp unit that I need? Will any model year BMW one fit, and is there any modding required?

The inner morette lamps are also dull - so I may ditch them completely and leave the holes as additional air vents. If I do this, do I need to fit any sort of ducting, or can I just fit the morette with no light unit installed? If I need ducting etc, what have other people used?

Sorry for all the questions - just trying to work out what to do!

The E30 lights are joined together as a pair though, so need quite some modifying to fit (someone posted a pic up of the lights out of the car some while ago, but I can't find the post).

Apparantly it takes a few hours, and you need the E30 black light conversion, then you see what you get and put it in the Morette faces, its a bit tricky but it works (according to Guido, as I have never done it).

Mmmm - so I can't use just an ordinary set of headlights from a breakers? If I'm looking for the right thing, a pair of black headlights are c.£280 (seached using Google- which I then need to butcher for the outer lights, plus the cost of the HID kit?

Or are the ones in the pic ok? (for sale for £110)

I've never done it, so can't advise any further than I have done. You could try PMing Guido?

Thanks Guido. Don't suppose you took any pics of what you had to do to get them to fit? Need to decide if it's worth the hassle.

            Cheers
